When something is wrong

First, open More → Help in creekX. It checks every part of the server and says what to do about anything that is not fine.

What you see, and what to do

The installer stops with a message

The message says what is wrong. Fix it and run the same line again: it carries on safely.

The address does not open

Check ports 80 and 443 are open in your provider's firewall, and that the domain points at this server's IP address.

The browser says the site is not secure

The https certificate could not be issued yet. Usually the domain does not point at this server yet, or port 80 is blocked. It retries by itself.

OBS cannot connect

Check port 1935 (TCP) is open. Copy the server and key again from Show key: a new key may have been made.

Going live from the browser does not connect

It needs https, and port 8189 open (UDP, and TCP for networks that block UDP).

A platform shows "not sending"

Choose Enter key on it and paste its stream key again: platforms sometimes change keys.

The owner's password is forgotten

Choose Forgot your password? on the sign-in page, once email is set up. On the server, sudo creekx owner always sets a new one.

A test email does not arrive

The message says what the mail server answered. Check the settings with your email provider (does it need an app password?), and look in spam.

creekX does not start

sudo creekx logs shows why.

On Windows, http://localhost stops answering

Windows paused Ubuntu after its last window closed. Open Ubuntu from the Start menu and wait a few seconds.

Ask us

In More → Help, choose Download the report and send it to us with what happened. It holds how the server is doing and its recent messages, with passwords, stream keys, tokens and email addresses taken out first.
